May 1st ~ Toppuddle Memorial Service
On Wednesday, May 1st at 5 pm a memorial service to honour the Topuddle Martyrs will be held. The Service will be held at the Tolpuddle Martyrs' memorial sculpture at Ivy Park at the fork of the Thames.
As part of the service there will be the presentation of the Topuddle Memorial Award to Rick Witherspoon, Past CAW skilled trades representative for FORD 1520 Local Past President London District Labour Council, CAW National Representative. Retired
A light dinner (finger foods) will be served afterwards at the Wortley Roadhouse House, 190 Wortley Rd London.
April 28th LDLC Service ~ National Day of Mourning for Workers Killed and Injured on the Job
On Monday, April 28th the London and District Labour Congress will hold a memorial service to honour the memory of these workers. A light lunch will be served afterwards. The Service and lunch will be at the Tolpuddle Co-op building, 380 Adelaide Street North, London, Ontario, N6B 3P6
Pre-Retirement Course from CURC
The Congress of Union Retirees of Canada conducts pre-retirement courses in a number of centres for small groups of about 20 people who want to learn more about retirement. This course is based on group discussion lead by people who are retired. It is not an expert model, where people may want to sell you their services. Rather, it is a chance to look the issues that you should consider. Spouses and partners are also eligible to attend as retirement plans should involve both persons.

The Retirees Chapter Executive and many members of the Chapter attended the STOP HUDAK meeting at the Hilton Hotel this past Thursday. The message that was passed on to the attendees was a dire one. We discussed at great length the plans Tim Hudak has for Ontario and for Ontario's Labour. We were informed of his union busting agenda and the horrible steps he will take to destroy workers rights and crush the working class of Ontario.
