Huge Turnout in Toronto Campaign to Stop Tim Hudak Attack on Workers! Sudbury & London Next!

Posted on January 11, 2015

This is an update on the exhilarating meeting in Toronto last night with more than 500 union members packed into the OFL hall. It was hot, loud and animated, and – no surprise – ended in serious planning for a workplace campaign roll-out that gets underway Monday. The central issue: the take down of Tim Hudak in the next election and the pivotal plan to change the votes of the estimated 30% of union members who are Conservative supporters. Speakers summed up the tasks at hand, emphasizing that “the best people to reach these members is fellow workers. We work alongside Hudak supporters and we lunch with them.”

Numerous locals will have their plans operational by as early as Monday morning. Materials are already rolling out in the thousands.

Workers cannot afford Hudak’s agenda of lower wages, gutted pensions, unsafe workplaces and wrecked futures . Even union members who usually vote Conservative are saying: “Not this time!”
