“S.O.S.” – Save Our Services - March 4 Day of Action Protest

All across Ontario hundreds of hospital beds are being closed down, patients are lined up on stretchers in the hallways, local services are being cut and moved out of town, outpatient clinics are being privatized and home care and nursing home placements are severely rationed forcing many to wait a long time, pay for private care or go without. It doesn't have to be this way. Together, we can save our services by fighting back against the cutbacks. On March 4, communities across Ontario will hold a Day of Action to stand up against the cuts and to show support for their local hospitals and health care services.

30,000 Rally to Demand Restoration of Public Services and Democratic Rights

(Toronto, Ontario) – Over 30,000 protesters descended on Maple Leaf Gardens this afternoon as Liberal Party delegates prepared to elect the next Premier of Ontario. Coming from every corner of the province and every walk of life, the protest marked the largest opposition the party has faced since forming government in 2003. “We are here to tell the new Premier of Ontario that you cannot lead this province unless fairness, equality and workers’ rights are central to your economic strategy,” said OFL President Sid Ryan to a thronging crowd at Toronto’s Allan Gardens. “Today’s rally is a testament to the Liberal’s largest opposition – the people of Ontario.”

The Thames River Clean Up will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2013

The Friends of the Thames would like to Thank All our Volunteers and Sponsors During the last 13 years, 1000's of environmentally concerned volunteers, landowners, clubs, organizations and municipalities have pulled together on Earth Week to help clean up sections of the Thames River watershed. This year almost 500 volunteers cleaned up and "Adopted" 200 km of our Canadian Heritage River. If you would like to help the 'Friends of the Thames" and show your appreciation for our Canadian Heritage River by making the Thames River cleaner and healthier, come out and clean up your favourite spot. London Only but all communities can help. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and staying cool. There has been a lot of focus on the Thames River later with the low water level. Garbage and debris that our volunteers couldn't see or reach this spring is now visible. If you and some of more volunteers would like to participate on Thursday it would be very much appreciated. Please don't feel obligated as we have all done more than our share of keeping the Thames River clean. This is a unique year with the low water levels.
