The Retiree Chapter of Local 27 is very sad to announce that member Rob Taylor, known to all as Bear, has passed away.
Fall is almost here and with it the time when we would normally start our monthly Retirees’ Chapter meetings back up. As I am sure everyone realizes, this will not be possible yet.
The local will be having elections to the executive positions
The Local 27 Retirees' Chapter Executive has determined that the cancellation of the retiree's meetings will continue into the foreseeable future.

To all Unifor Local 27 Retirees’ Chapter members:
The chapter's executive has decided, in keeping with government mandates, to suspend the monthly meetings until further notice due to the dangers of spreading the Coronavirus in large gatherings.
Thursday night at the United Way Elgin Middlesex Labour Appreciation Awards Night, Hector Mclellan was recognized for a lifetime of activism and a crucial part of the United Way and Labour Movement with the Images of Hope Award
Unifor President Jerry Dias has issued a request for volunteers to participate in a Unifor National Solidarity Action in support of Unifor Local 594. Your chapter may send activist retirees to participate in picket line action from January 20 until February 2, inclusive, in Regina.
Due to the Union Hall being unavailable on the planned day of the January meeting, the executive has decided to cancel the meeting.

On Saturday, November 16th from 2pm to 4pm, Unifor Local 27 will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Monty Fielding
Monty passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on October 23rd, 2019 after a short battle with cancer.
Please join Monty's family and friends in celebrating a life of generosity, love and laughter.

Edith Mary Johnston, of London, Ontario died peacefully on March 4th in Mount Hope Long Term Care in her 99th year.
Edith is remembered as a leader and mentor within the labour movement.
