Unity Project

Jenny Butchart & Rebecca Waugh from The Unity Project gave the membership a presentation about the excellent work being done by this organization!

The Unity Project provides emergency shelter and transitional housing with a peer-supported, community model. We offer comfortable dorms for men, women and couples, and we provide a community of support where residents take responsibility for themselves, for each other and for the functioning of the shelter. The values of respect, cooperation, interdependence and compassion are promoted and personal accountability is encouraged. The development and practice of important life skills are embedded in every aspect of our shelter, with residents involved in the cooking, cleaning and daily maintenance. Front-line support staff are accessible 24/7…365 days a year, and work one-to-one with each resident to monitor and advance a personal action plan for stability and independence.
