Retirees Chapter 2022 ~ December & January Meetings

Greetings once again to the membership:

First off the executive would like to thank everyone who showed up for the November meeting, the turn out was very good for our presentation from Dawn & Lisa on the improvements to the asrTrust fund, the fund that handles GM retirees benefits.

There have been several requests for further information about the presentation

We will email this info to the membership when Dawn makes it available to us.

December Meeting / Christmas Luncheon:

At the November meeting it was voted on and passed to combine the December chapter meeting with our Christmas Luncheon. Discussion of chapter business will be kept to bare minimum.

Time: Saturday, December 10th, 11:00 am till 1:30 (approx.)

Where: Unifor Local 27 Hall

Cost: $5 per person

We will have a social time with punch starting at 11:00 am followed by lunch served in the 11:45 to noon time frame followed by a draw for door prizes.

We sold tickets for the always-popular Christmas Luncheon at the November meeting. Tickets are now sold out

January Meeting:

The executive discussed at length, the viability of a January meeting.

  • There are many factors at work here

  • The meeting has often been cancelled due to nasty weather

  • Members are often away or busy with visiting family

  • Even when we held a meeting the turnout was dismal at best, the last time we held a Jan. meeting we had twelve members attend.

  • It is difficult to have a guest speaker commit to an uncertain date.

The Executive suggested and put to a vote the cancellation of the January meeting, this motion was passed unanimously.

With this cancelation, the first 2023 meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1st.

Hope to see you all in December for our Christmas Luncheon or in February for our first meeting of 2023!

Till then, stay safe
