First Computer Course Rescheduled to February

The computer classes that the executive has arranged from McMaster University Labour Studies are beginning; The first beginners is being rescheduled to February 7th or 8th, update on the exact dare will follow.

There is at this time plans for 2 beginners classes and 2 advanced classes, all seat are spoken for at present although we will take names for a cancellation list.

Because of unsolvable difficulties with the wifi internet connection at Local 27, the classes will be held at the CAW Regional Centre at 140 Pine Valley Blvd (near the corner of Wonderland and Southdale Roads).

Course Title: Introduction to Computers and the Internet

Course Description: Would you like learn how to use a computer, surf the internet, get an email account? This one day introductory offered by the CAW-McMaster Labour Studies program is for beginners interested in learning computer and internet basics. You will learn about computer operating systems, how to get onto and navigate the internet, sign up for an email account and send an email, find and download information from the internet, and other important basic computer skills in this course.

  1. This is a beginner’s course aimed at people who want to get started on a computer. For example, signing up for a Gmail account, surfing the internet, downloading files and images from the internet, saving files to a usb drive, etc.

  2. We hope to offer a advanced computer course more suited to those more comfortable on the internet. In that course, students sign up for and create a Facebook page and/or online blog, and learn how to search and download online resources.

The introductory course is one day and runs typically from 9:30 to about 3:30.

We will hold the course in 3rd or 4th week of January and mid February.

Cost of the course will be $10.00 per person to cover the costs of lunch and breaks.
