Original GM Release:

On November 28th General Motors announced that they would cease operations in Oshawa and two U.S. plants by the end of 2019.

Unifor Response:

As a result of this announcement, The Unifor National has begun a program to try to reverse the decision to close the Oshawa plant.

Barb Dolan, Director of Retired Workers, sent this resolution out to several contacts, including our Recording Secretary Peter Kearney.

The executive asked for and received permission to share this document with the Retirees' Chapter membership.

Update: January 7th

Windsor Star: Unifor expects GM announcement Monday on Oshawa plant future.

After speaking with General Motors officials on Friday, Unifor national president Jerry Dias said he anticipates hearing Monday whether the company has changed its recently announced plans to walk away from Oshawa after a century of vehicle manufacturing in the Ontario city.
